31 July day 11
Singapore was fantastic. I met Gary at 2pm and we went for lunch at a local restaurant. We spent the day walking around the city. There is everything in Singapore and I felt like it is a really good match for me. Why have I never lived here? You can feel that it is a small island country but with a big cosmopolitan feeling. I just love the diversity of it.
We went to Garys house and waited for Jeff to pick us up. We then went to get Doris and had dinner at a fantastic place. In the business district, the street was shut down to create an outdoor food market. You can sit down and all different shops come to serve a mixture of whatever you like. The food was amazing. After that we walked around the city. A walk in Singapore is very urban. We walked up and back down several floors in a theatre. Then along the skylit harbour to see the infamous Merlion of Singapore. I was so sad when the family dropped me off at the port. I really didnt feel ready to leave this fascinating city. We joked about losing my passport but in the end, the boat goes on.
